Important Reminders
Admission Criteria
- Medicare Coverage or HMO coverage
- Referral from primary care doctor, nurse practitioner, ophthalmologist, or optometrist
- Cannot simultaneously receive Medicare-funded services through a home health agency
Service
- The patient is eligible for varying amounts of service determined by Medicare regulations.
- The patient’s ongoing progress will be monitored and documented.
- Progress reports are sent to referring doctor.
Payment
- Medicare covers 80% of fees.
- The remaining 20% will be billed as a co-payment to the secondary insurance provider.
- Medicare and most HMOs pay for the training.
- Medicare does not currently cover the cost of adaptive equipment.
