Talking blood glucose monitors
While there are many blood glucose monitors, most of them can't be read by low vision patients. The good news is that there are models which can be very helpful. These talking glucose meters announce the glucose level and have a large print display of the result (about $30). The news gets even better. Talking glucose monitors are reimbursable by many insurance companies, including Medicare, as long as the physician writes a detailed prescription and includes an eye report indicating that the patient is legally blind.
