Strokes and vision loss

A person who has suffered a stroke is much more challenged if they also have to also face a vision problem. There are two different strategies which have to be employed to help this someone who has had a stroke and vision loss. First, there is special adaptive equipment for eating that would be helpful to a stroke patient; a plate with a raised lip, large handled eating utensils, rocker knives and non-skid mats to keep plates in place. Vision related strategies include; using contrasting colored mats and dishes, keeping beverage glasses always in the same location relative to the dinner plate and having good light illuminating the table.
