Phone company programs for people who have disabilities
Verizon services provided free of charge:
- 411 automated caller assist to look up phone numbers and to place a call
- 411 can also speak to operator for assistance. When automated message asks for city and state, just say "operator". This works for both local and long distance calls.
- Dial 00 to get a long distance operator who can assist with getting a phone number and placing the call.
Contact Verizon's Disability Services office and ask for their Disability Access Form to be sent to them: 800-974-6006. They then have to fill out the form, get it signed by their doctor and then mail it to address on the form.
Comcast service provided free of charge:
