Accessing books and magazines

NEWSLINE is a The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped program of the Perkins Talking Book Library has developed a new program to make it easy to download almost any book or magazine directly to a consumer’s iPhone or Android device. The program is called The Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD). BARD is a free application for anyone registered as a patron of a Talking Book Library. Visions of Independence is authorized to register our patients as patrons of Talking Book Libraries. Once registered, and if the patient has an iPhone or an Android phone, they can download virtually any book that is in print directly to their cell phone.

Listening to an audio book is not quite the same as reading but it is probably the only way many patients can "read" novels again.
