Making using keys easier

It is easy to see how keys can all look the same to low vision patients. Fortunately, some simple changes can make finding the right key a lot easier.  The first tip is to split keys into two key chains; one brightly colored key chain for the front door and the rest on another key chain.  Another approach is to buy the brightly colored rings that go around the top of the key.  They can be found at any hardware store and come in a pack that contains many bright colors.  For example, the red ring can go on the front door key and the yellow ring on the back door key.  Another great tool is a simple pocket flashlight.  A patient can shine the flashlight beam on the door lock while inserting the key making it easier to locate.  Everything is a bit easier with good lighting.
